Hey everyone.
Well, today is kinda an emotional
day for us ppl who volunteered at
Lion's Befrienders cuz as some of
you ppl may noe, today is our very
last day there.
So today we went there like extra
early cuz like we had to go make
sandwiches for them at iris's hse.
Well, guess wad?
1st of all, i was supposed to bring the pork
floss to her place but obviously, i forgot
to bring.
So we changed our sandwich into Tuna
sandwich instead of the porkfloss one.
Right, so when we got to Iris's hse, 1st
thing we did was get scared (Me & Kajal)
cuz totally forgot bout her pet dog, Angel.
Cuz it started running towards us and started
barking and me and kajal were just standing
there.
So Iris had to carry round Angel every where
cuz we would just be way too frightened to
walk around the hse otherwise.
But since the Angel was kinda heavy,
Iris just suggested that me and Kajal just
hide in the room and think of the performance
we're gonna put up later.
But b4 we could do tt, we realised tt we
dun have enough bread and went down to
buy 2 loafs of bread frm the stall downstairs
Iris hse.
So aft bout like half an hour, Celeste finally
arrived.
She was late, but its ok, we still managed
to complete everything.
Ok, so then it was like already almost 8am
n we were supposed to be there at like 7.50am.
So we then went out of the rm and realised
tt Iris was still on her 7th sandwich and we
had to make 20.
Celeste couldnt help as well cuz like she was
in the rm with the Angel inside and i think
they were afraid tt everything would get
messed up or something?
Oh no, i think it was me and kajal's fault cuz
we did not dare to walk of the rm if Angel
was there, so i guess its our bad.
Anw, we were like super scared already cuz
we still have tomake much more sandwiches.
So then me and kajal decided to help and we
managed to finish making them all by 8am.
Like how amazing is tt.
And we even made extra with a bit of tuna
left over. (:
Ok, so we quickly rushed down when suddenly,
we were like walking halfway and we realised
we left the sandwiches in Iris's hse.
Like how smart of us to do tt?!
So then Iris and Celeste decided to run up
to her hse to get the sandwiches and by
the time we got to the place, we were like
the very last ones there,
DUH.
We were so late tt Joycelyn had to call us
twice.
LOL.
So then we kinda practiced on our performance
and honestly, our hokey-pokey dance
turned out better than we expected it to be.
Since it was so last min and all.
Ok, so these are the performance by
the respective groups:
Renee's Grp: Mama mia dance thingy
Joycelyn's Grp: right side, left side dance,
gheko dance n i think one more which i
have forgotten
(SORRY!)Our Grp: Hokey-Pokey dance
So at the end of all our performances, we
did the friendship dance which is definitely
not as lame as it sounds.
Its really fun and it did keep the seniors
happy.
At the end of the day, all of us including the
seniors were like all sad cuz we really
gotten quite close. (:
Overall, i think CIP at Lion's Befrienders
was quite a good experience aft all.
Ok, so tmr we're gonna go Queenstown
stadium to help the rainbow children for their
sports day.
And yes, have to wake up early
AGAIN.
This time its at 7am which is not as bad
as today cuz i woke up at like 6.30am.
Oh and one last thing, Ash can come tmr
for lunch so YAY!
But Kajal couldnt make it tmr.
So thats sad. D':
Anw, since i have nothing more to say,
BYE! (:
Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts.
— Ezekiel 14:3
When my husband and I first went out as missionaries, I recall being concerned about the growth of materialism in our society. It never crossed my mind that I myself could be materialistic. After all, hadn’t we gone overseas with almost nothing? Weren’t we choosing to live in a shabbily furnished, rundown apartment? I thought materialism couldn’t touch us.
Nonetheless, feelings of discontent gradually began to take root in my heart. Before long I was craving hungrily after nice things and secretly feeling resentful over not having them.
Then one day God’s Spirit opened my eyes with a disturbing insight: Materialism isn’t necessarily having things; it can also be craving them. There I stood—guilty of materialism! God had exposed my discontent for what it was—an idol in my heart! That day as I repented of this subtle sin, God recaptured my heart as His rightful throne. Needless to say, a deep contentment followed, based not on things but on Him.
In Ezekiel’s day, God dealt thoroughly with this kind of secret idolatry. His throne on earth has always been in the hearts of His people. That’s why we must rid our heart of anything that destroys our contentment with Him.

Joanie YoderThe dearest idol I have known,Whate’er that idol be,Help me to tear it from Thy throneAnd worship only Thee.
— Cowper
An idol is anything that takes the place of God.
